Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, located 12 miles from the town of Jackson in Teton Village, boasts one of the longest, steepest continuous vertical drops of any ski area in North America. You can ski 4,139 leg-burning, vertical feet from 10,450 feet down to 6,311 feet. Jackson Home Mountain Resort operates from December to April and gets people out on the hill with nine chairlifts, two gondolas and an aerial tram.  The resort receives average of 360 inches of snowfall per year.

 

Summer in Jackson Hole offers unbeatable weather and endless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Hiking and camping may be the most popular summer endeavors, while whitewater rafting, golfing and horseback riding provide some of the nearly limitless summer entertainment possibilities.

 

The mountain scenery in Grand Teton National Park is unrivaled. The Tetons, the youngest of all the Rocky Mountains, are also probably the most spectacular of any of the Rocky Mountains found in the contiguous United States. There are seven peaks in excess of twelve thousand feet, with the tallest being the Grand Teton towering 13,770 feet above sea level, and more than a mile above the Valley floor. This peak stands as an ever present sentinel for the Jackson Hole Valley residents and visitors.  Just north of Grand Teton National Park is the spectacular and dramatic Yellowstone National Park.

Heavenly Valley & Kirkwood
South Lake Tahoe, CA/NV

Heavenly Valley is the major ski resort at the south end of Lake Tahoe.  Skiers can hit the slopes on one of the 97 ski trails in the midst of more than 8,800 total ski resort acres. The longest ski run in the area is 5.5 miles long and the greatest vertical drop is 4,800 feet. The sun shines at Lake Tahoe 300 days of the year. At lake level, annual snowfall averages 125 inches. At alpine skiing elevations, the snowfall averages 360 inches each year, with snowmaking covering 60% of the trails. Lake Tahoe views from the ski slopes are jaw-dropping.  South Lake Tahoe, including the Stateline area, has a permanent, year-round population of 23,000.

 

Kirkwood Mountain Resort is about 25 miles away from Heavenly and features astounding mountain scenery, great ski runs for all abilities and many housing choices:  ski-in/ski-out homes, the vibrant lifestyle at the Mountain Village, full and partial ownership, condos to custom homes.

Mammoth Lakes, CA

What sets Mammoth Mountain apart is an 11,053 foot summit and over 3,500 acres of skiable terrain that includes heart-pumping steep chutes, wide open bowls, tree skiing, bumps, gullies, and wide open, well-groomed trails. An average of over 400 inches of snow is caused by weather patterns from the Pacific that form over the Sierra. Mammoth Mountain is traditionally among the first ski areas to open and sometimes operates as late as the Fourth of July with excellent spring skiing.  The name speaks to the size of the mountains, the expansive valleys, the many beautiful mountain lakes and the endless adventure opportunities.  Close-by is the eastern entry to Yosemite National Park and hiking trails to Mt. Whitney, California's highest mountain peak.

Palisades Tahoe combined Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. It is halfway between Truckee and Lake Tahoe in one of the most famous and inspiring alpine settings. Squaw Valley hosted the Olympic Winter Games in 1960.  Today, it is all about the spirit of adventure and exploration, Terrain varies from mellow mountaintops with views of Lake Tahoe to the steeps, bowls and cliffs craved by experts. It spans more than 6,000 acres of skiing and riding across 6 peaks with 34 lifts and 270 trails.  The European-inspired Village features nearly 60 restaurants, bars, boutiques, and art galleries.

 

Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows are now linked by the new Base to Base Gondola that takes skiers 2.4 miles from either base area in 16 minutes. The connection makes Palisades Tahoe the third largest ski area in North America.
